Unexpected Natural Journey

Just want to highlight on Kinky Twist... Kinky Twist is actually the rough version of Senegalese Twist. Since I have that strong kinky 4C Curly Coil, the kinky style fits my hair perfectly. More reason why I am so in love with Kinky Twist.

My first experience with Kinky Twist was actually a year ago. To my surprise, all of my hair actually fell out due to excessive usage of relaxers and colors. My hair was tired from the constant chemical process and, I myself was tired of experiencing breakage and hair loss. So, I actually allowed my hair to do what it wanted to do, and that was to fall off. The experience was frightening. I actually cried for weeks. I began to wear a wig daily, until I courageously went to Mam African Hair Braiding Salon . My hair was literally a short boy cut, or a TWA for naturals. I did not like it at all. After all, it was not a choice I made. I had that style by default. The feeling was horrible. But to my rescue, Mam African Hair Braiding Salon, worked their magic and brought a smile back to my face. I must tell you, that I've been a happy person since Mam African Hair Braiding Salon  has been braiding my hair. I am still amazed at the miracle they performed on my hair until this day, a year later.

So, my unexpected natural journey began last year by default. And today, I must tell you that I am so happy to be natural because I am no longer suffering from severe headaches. The headaches were constant every time I got a relaxer. I was normally left with scabs and blisters on my scalp. Let it be known, that this horrifying experience had nothing to do with my hairstylists. I always had the best ones who took great care of my hair. But, the reality is that I have a sensitive scalp and it does not agree with harsh chemicals.

I received my first relaxer when I was eleven years old. As an adolescent and teenager, I tried many different hairstyles and loved styling hair. I had a new style every day due to my creativity. However, the style that always appealed to me the most was the Wave Nouveau. It always caught my eye. But, I was told I could not have it due to the relaxer in my hair. So, my creativity kicked in and I began to experiment with products. I used to spray my hair with TCB Care Free Curl Spray and braid my hair in cornrows, then take it out the next day. The result was exactly like the Natural Care Free Look, everyone is sporting nowadays. I loved it! But, unfortunately, since my relaxed hair did not agree with TCB Care Free Curl Spray, I experienced breakage and some hair loss. My scalp was irritated and dry. The dryness transformed into dandruff, no matter what product I used on my hair.

Now, that my hair has been free from chemicals for a year, my hair is constantly moisturized, hydrated, and free from dandruff. My last dandruff horror was exactly a year ago, while my hair was falling out. My hair is strong and my scalp is healthy. To date, I've had about six different Kinky Twist Styles since the beginning of my unexpected journey, short, long, different colors, etc. And, I believe I will continue going kinky until my hair grows to a comfortable length for me to wear it out. I personally do not like the TWA mane on me. Can't wait for it to grow out!

THE POWER OF VISION

Well, last year at around eleven o'clock in the night on January 31, 2016, I made a conscious decision to be sure to do everything different in order to achieve different things in 2017. So, to start off, I went to my first ever Vision Board Party on January 28, 2017. It was the most exciting event I had ever been to in my entire life. It brought so much joy, happiness, and great clarity for more vision. I was so blown away by the positive atmosphere, I did not even finish my board by the end of the event. So, you know I had homework to do. So, a week later, via searching online, I saw a church which was having a FREE Vision Board Party. I said to myself, this is indeed a great opportunity for me to attend that event in order for me to finish my board. I instantly was motivated to be there. So sure enough, I attended, and not only did I finish my first Vision Board, I began another one, being more specific based on more clarity. I was overly excited. As I was at the second Visi...

HAPPY WOMEN'S MONTH 2017: Honoring Frantzlie Vaval

My name is Frantzlie Vaval, I was born in Montreal, Canada and moved to the United States when I was 13 years old with my family. I must say it was difficult adjusting to a new culture and language.  Looking back, I can say that I conquered many adversities, and always knew with God and family, I would be able to overcome them. I was raised in a Christian home and I see the values that were instilled in me helped me become the woman that I am today.  I currently work as a Public Health adviser. I enjoy working with different communities, and helping people in need of advice. I also work as a Realtor agent, since I enjoy helping others find a place to call home. There are different things that I enjoy doing, but I can truly say that I have a passion in music. I was raised around musicians, my father is a choir director, my mother, sisters and I all sing.  I currently direct a choir as well. I guess I followed in my father's footsteps.  One thing I re...
