WINTERIZATION: HAITIAN STYLE

So, as you all know Winter is official here! Can't complain where I am because it honestly has been great. New York Winter has improved tremendously. But, to keep up with the change of weather, it is imperative to implement a winterization plan to alleviate dry skin, dry scalp and hair, whether you are natural or not. I like to stack up with these three products displayed before you: These products are from Kreyol Essence  . I am totally in love with the idea of adding a pleasant scent to Black Castor Oil. It generally has a harsh smell, but Kreyol Essence has made it possible for us to enjoy it with a Lavender, Peppermint, Citrus twist, just to name a few choices. I apply the Haitian Black Castor Oil  to my scalp to stimulate my follicles for new hair growth. Haitian Black Castor Oil  is strong and powerful. You feel it working with simply one application. The feeling is a tingling sensation which remains for days per my personal observation. Goat and Coconut Cream, bet

AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS

It is  really nice to see how eloquent celebrities look nowadays. I am so thrilled by their conservative, elegant looks. It is an honor to witness the improvement. These outfits are perfect examples for young ladies. Thank for demonstrating great lady etiquette.       Congrats to Neyo for his dapper look on the runway. I was impressed. It is the best I have ever seen in a while. Great incentive for young men to clean up. Awesome image!   I love elegance!    Simplicity is beautiful!   Sophistication comes from within...  Beauty on the inside always reveals itself on the outside...    Congrats to Nicki Minaj. Her look improves daily. It is a blessing to witness it. Keep up the good work!     And, last but not least, I was not too pleased when I saw the front only of Tracey Ellis Ross's dress. But, after seeing this compilation of pictures, I was ecstatic. This open back dress is so me. I love its Simple, Sex

PRECIOUS PINK MEMORIES

On October 17, 2014, I had the privilege of hosting the First Annual Precious Pink Memories created by Luna Starz Management. Luna Starz Management is a savvy event planning company created by Lounick Perony, aka Cookie Sweet. As a Breast Cancer Survivor, Lounick Perony is committed to creating fun filled events in order to fundraise for Breast Cancer Awareness. A portion of the proceeds are donated to American Cancer Society at Making Strides Walk . After receiving the news that I would be hosting Precious Pink Memories, my first thought was, "What am I going to do with my hair?" As a naturalist for the past three years, I've been wearing many different styles of kinky twists. I did not want to look the same for the event. I felt that I needed to step up and demonstrate some creativity of my natural beauty and charm. As I envisioned, I came up with a Mohawk, but I was not sure of how the front was going to turn out. And, a

FROLICIOUS

One more day left of my "FROLICIOUS" week! Ladies and gentlemen, let me share with you that the afro is a conversation pieces. It attracts. People stare and smile, watching you pass by... Some comment, "So, Afrocentric... Nice!"  It was an honor to experience such positive attention. I receive so many request to touch it. The comment I love the most" WOW! It's so soft. This comment brought happiness to me, instantly because I remember how my hair used to be when I was child. Unfortunately, it was not as soft as it is now, hence the reason for putting a relaxer in my hair by the approximate age of 9 years old. So, I played a lot with it this week. I blew it out with a blow dryer, at first. Then, curled it with rods the next day, removed the curls and fluffed it out the following day. Shampooed it with Curl MAX Curl Enhancing Shampoo , applied two applications, rinse it out, added Curl Activator Moisturizer , let the curls absorb the moisturizer, picke

BACK TO BASICS

Today is the first day, I actually wore my natural hair, after losing it all to relaxers, two years ago. For some reason, my hair just began to reject relaxers, created breakage, practically leaving me to be bald. Then, I did not have the courage to wear the TWA hairstyle because I never chose it. So, I wore many different styles of braids until I reached this day, today. Today, I embrace my hair for what it is, kinky, curly and coils. It is the perfect afro mane, some wish they had. Now, that I've been testing hair products and reviewing them. I am very happy to share that I actually know the products that work best for my hair type. My 4C, kinky, curly, coils have adapted and embraced Goat & Coconut Krem Ak Let MOISTURIZING HAIR MILK  by Kreyol Essence. Goat & Coconut Krem Ak Let MOISTURIZING HAIR MILK  contains Organic Goat Milk, Coconut Cream, Shea Butter and Haitian Black Castor Oil to soften and hydrate hair. It contains Vitamin A, B, E, Y, potassium and p

BE YOUR OWN BEST FRIEND

As I've taken the time to meditate for the past month during the transition of season, I've realized that I've grown a whole lot. I am such a better person today, then I was yesterday, last month, last year... I've improved so much by simply becoming familiar with my state of being, sense of style, and personality. I've learned a lot about myself and embraced myself as my own best friend. I must share that it has been the best personal experience I have ever had in so long. My mind has developed and broadened into creative thinking. Since then, my dreams have been coming true, one after the other. What was once lost is now gained by simply knowing myself as I am. I am now all smiles, walking a path with a new destination. The beauty of it is that I did not need anyone to do anything for me to acquire this new found sense of happiness, peace, freedom, and joy. I am blessed and it shows. I wear it from head to toe. Now, as my blessings pour into my life, I feel

HAPPY BLUE DAYS

"HAPPY BLUE DAYS" Yesterday was one of my "Happy Blue Days"- a day that I simply choose to play with the color blue by coordinating my makeup, lipstick and clothing. This is how I achieved this look: 1. After part drying my face, I applied a small amount of Haitian Shea Butter to my palm and rub it on my face as a base. Haitian Shea Butter is a light-non greasy of Haitian Castor Oil and African Shea Butter . 2. Apply Bourjois Loose Powder, a transparent, matt finish product for the face, perfect for fall and winter season. That's how I achieve my sleek skin look, besides drinking water daily. 3.Then, proceeded by applying midnight blue eyeliner with blue eye shadow- you may pick any shades of blue from any brand. I use the cheapest found in beauty supply stores, and/or local drug stores. 4. Then, applied a lip therapy to alleviate chap lips; used a plum lip liner (no need to purchase a blue one). The lip liner will not show under lip

THE EVENT: WASHING NATURAL HAIR

Due to many things happening in my life, I actually delayed in washing my hair; feeling the dryness and lack of care I've given my hair for the past few weeks. So, to make up for lost time, I've decided to pre-poo my hair with Dr. Miracle's Follicle Healer. Now, what is pre-poo? Pre-poo is the action of applying oil nutrients your hair before shampooing. Hence, that I already spent two weeks, applying AMLA oil  to my roots as a hairdressing oil. So, my hair was saturated with natural oils and ready to be washed. Dr. Miracle's Follicle Healer is a deep conditioning, energizing and restorative treatment fortified with tea tree oil, aloe vera gel, soy protein, and vitamins E, B3 and C, which boosts follicle and scalp health leading to beautiful, soft, shiny hair. This product is known for its tingling sensation upon application. Its energizing complex continues to work after you stop feeling the tingling sensation.   After my pre-poo, I washed it out with

EMMYS 2014: FASHION SENSE

The Emmy Awards 2014 Fashion really caught my eye, this year. It was nice to see the illustration of elegance, sophiscation and class among most of the wardrobes. Here is a list of my favorites: The stunning curvaceous beauty, Dasha Polanco simply represented the life of a princess in this gown. This dress suits her so well, as if it was customized for her. The color suits her complexion perfectly, and her hairstyle and jewelry complemented the entire look. Just awesome!   The marvelous Halle Berry glamourously wears a gown from Ella Saab Fall 2014 Collection. This is definitely Pure Elegance from head to toe.           I love this dress on Kerry Washington. It is classy, sophiscated, elegant and electic. The popping orange illuminated her golden skin tone, and the black glitter glitz underneath the high slit is a great sneek peak to glam.       The Exquisite Keke Palmer electrified the red carpet with this eloquent satin electric blue gown with th

VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS 2014: FASHION SENSE

Looking back and highlighting on my favorite outfits of the Video Music Awards 2014- So, let's begin with The Queen Beyonce who always dresses phenomenally. Loving her in this eloquent burgundy color gown. Her dresses always fit her curves so perfectly. And, her glitter glitz glam leotard was perfect for her performance.   Jennifer Lopez looked ravishingly stunning in her cut up glitter gown. The crowd could not resist her glam.     This cocktail dress really caught my eye. I love the eclectic statement it creates- asymmetrically short, but classy.      The look of this cutie patootie dress is so very cute. It creates a great classy, sassy, young spirited look for young ladies. The shoes match it perfectly.       Now, this dress by Atelier Versace Spring 2014 Collection is to die for... It is gorgeous and unique.      I love it when pregnant women dress eloquently. This is a beautiful "mommy-to-be" gown. It is so nicely presen

SEND OUR ANGELS HOME

It is with great regret that the New York Natural Hair and Haitian Community are mourning the loss of Myriam Lebrun, 37 years old member of Naturally Yours, who was killed in a tragic motor vehicle accident, with her four children and mother on the Southern State Parkway on Long Island. The family has set a fundraiser via Go Fund Me in order to send these angels home. FELL IN LOVE WITH AMLA

So, for the past 20 days now, I 've been testing this new oil I discovered a few months ago, named AMLA. It's been around in many local drug stores, such as CVS , Walgreen's , and Rite Aid , but I never decided to try until a month ago, after finding some details about it on Pinterest . And, here is the pin that striked my interest:     This pin caught my attention, immediately. I was amazed at its discovery. I never heard of Amla and wanted to learn more about it. So based on my research, Amla oil comes from an Indian Gooseberry, which is a native fruit in India. It contains essential fatty acids, and it is very high in Vitamin C, flavonoids, polyphenols, and also contain water, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. Amla has been used for Ayurvedic Medicine, is the traditional medicine of India, which originated there over 5,000 years ago. Ayurveda emphasizes re-establishing balance in the body through diet, lifestyle, exercise, and body cleansing, and on

BRAID MAINTENANCE PROGRAM

I am writing this post to answer so many of your questions referencing my braids. First and foremost, please get use to wearing a  SATIN WRAP  while you sleep. That is the first step to keeping moisture and shine to your hair. You have no idea how important this step is, until you try it. I suggest for you to try it for a month to see the difference. 1. WEAR A SATIN WRAP WHILE SLEEPING Unlike many, I actually wash my braids on a regular basis. People are always shocked to hear this. I can't stay without washing my hair. Water must touch my scalp, that is part of renewing its moisture and hydration, which is relating to its shine. I normally wash my braids with Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap  . Let's just highlight on Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap,   this is an old product on the market for years, now. Dr. Bronner  is a classic, revolutionary soap that is literally good for everything. It is great on hair, braids especially due to its light, clear, non-creamy substance.

PRODUCT REVIEW: HAIR- Minoval Hair Growth- Made in Haiti

It is with great joy that I am introducing Minoval Hair Growth Aid Mob. Minoval is a product line manufactured in Haiti. And, if you are wondering... Yes, I am of Haitian descent and very proud. I use the pomade and the capsule drops on my hair with and/or without braids. The growth results are phenomenal. Keep in mind that this a strong, powerful product which generate results. I use this product on my hair, while it was breaking from excessive use of relaxers and permanent colors. This product is NOT FOR EVERYONE! MINOVAL HAIR REGROWTH TREATMENT Solution 2%, Solution 5% Extra strength, Plus, MOB, Shampoo, Conditioner, Leave-in Conditioner, Relaxer MINOVAL Lotion helps prevent hair loss, and stimulates new growth, at the root. How? 1) MINOVAL Lotion stimulates and enlarges hair follicles that have shrunken over time due to a combination of hormonal activity and heredity.
